Ancient Chinese Makeup

One of the main features of makeup in Ancient China would be their eyebrows. They have always been an essential part recognised in makeup.   In In 2c BCE, eyebrows had sharp, pointed tops. In 2c A.D., eyebrows were gently curved. In replace of foundation in China they used rice flower on their face to make it white . This was used by men and women would you believe. In addition to this they also darken their eyebrows. They darkening of the eyebrow was like filling them in today. the contrast of black and white pleased the Chinese as it looked like drawing on the face. During the times of the Han, a new product was introduced. This was know as rouge which today we would refer to as lipstick. The rouge was look upon as a drawing tool and was used to make different shapes on the lips such as hearts, flowers

Makeup in the past.

Hey guys! So If your on this blog you are probably wondering where beauty comes from. Cosmetics all started in Egypt with Cleopatra using different earthly resources to make her makeup. It has now spreaded all over the world to all countries. But back in the ancient times makeup wasn't used primarily to make yourself look pretty it was actually used for rituals in humans more than 6000 years ago. In this blog I will be talking about four countries: Europe, China , Middle East and Egypt.  In this first blog I will be talking about Egypt. Egypt:  In Egypt they used kohl as eye liner on their eyes. They also found jars that resembled setting lotion. It was made using beeswax and resin. To get the blue eye shadow colour they crushed up lapis lazuli to make the blue shadow colour. The Egyptians used facial makeup by using stains on the cheeks and lips which was made from a substance called red ochre.
